18-Year-Old UConn Student Killed In Shooting: Suspect At Large

An 18-year-old who was a student at the University of Connecticut was killed in a shooting that also resulted in a motor vehicle crash in Hartford, police said.

The incident happened on Tuesday, June 13 just after 10:30 p.m., when Hartford police officers responded to the area of High Street and Walnut Street on a reported car crash, according to  Lt. Aaron Boisvert. 

There, officers found a young man outside the vehicle who was suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Police later determined that the incident had taken place at 37 Brook St. 

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Zaid Deje Langs-Myers of Windsor. He had been attending the University of Connecticut, according to numerous reports. 

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Anyone with any information regarding the shooting is asked to call Hartford Police at 860-722-TIPS (8477).
